I Don’t Think Turkey Can Raise Concerns About the Nuclear Power Plant's 'Dangerousness': Director
The General Director of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, Eduard Martirosyan, stated during an interview with reporters at AtomExpo in Sochi that the safety system of the Metsamor nuclear power plant is at a very high level.
"I do not think Turkey can raise this issue. As the operating organization and I as the head of that organization, we cannot operate a plant that poses a danger. I can definitely say that steps are being taken in every direction that could have some impact on safety, and even more than that. Our plant's safety system is at a very high level, and the funds allocated by the Armenian government have been completely sufficient, even exceeding the standards needed to modernize the existing safety systems. We are already following new technologies to ensure the safety of our plant; safety is one of the most important aspects for us. No country can think more about our country's safety than we do," emphasized the director of the power plant.
Martirosyan noted that even the head of the IAEA has spoken about the safety of the Metsamor nuclear power plant. "I believe this should be sufficient for some state experts who express various opinions regarding the operation of the Armenian nuclear power plant, claiming there are supposed problems. There are no such problems," said Eduard Martirosyan.
