At least 19 killed in explosion at bank branch in Afghanistan

At least 19 people have been killed and more than 20 injured as a result of an explosion at a New Kabul Bank branch in the city of Kandahar, southern Afghanistan. This was reported by the Iranian Tasnim agency, citing its sources.

According to local media, all the injured have been transferred to the Mirwais regional hospital in Kandahar.

Afghan Tolo News TV has reported that the explosion occurred at the bank branch located near the city's police administration building.

Another publication, Hasht-e Subh newspaper, claims that the incident happened just as members of the Taliban, who have taken power in the country, were gathering near the bank to withdraw their salaries, according to sources.
