Instead of Aid, Interest-Free Loan: Proposal from US Republican Senator to Zelensky
American Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, during his visit to Kyiv, told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the most likely option for U.S. assistance is an interest-free loan.
"During my meeting with President Zelensky, I informed him that considering the crisis at the southern border of the U.S. and our massive debt, the idea proposed by President Trump to turn U.S. aid into an interest-free loan, which can be declined, is the most plausible path forward," the senator stated after his visit to Ukraine.
Graham noted that this approach is "right not only for the assistance provided to Ukraine but also for many other countries around the world." In his opinion, the idea of a loan is "quite prevalent among not only Republicans but also Democrats."
The legislator also urged the U.S. administration to expedite the training of Ukrainians to operate F-16 fighter jets. At the same time, the senator criticized the timelines for supplying long-range ATACMS missiles, which he said "should have been here yesterday."
