Moldovan Referendum This Autumn Will Define Our Present and Future for Decades, Says Sandu
The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, has announced plans to hold a referendum in October to enshrine the country’s aspiration to integrate into the European Union in its Constitution. This information was reported by Interfax.
“The referendum on Moldova's accession to the EU will define our present and future for decades this autumn,” Sandu said during a press conference.
She urged the parliament to begin preparations for the referendum and to carry out the necessary procedures. A proposal to declare the referendum must be initiated by at least one-third of the deputies, through an inquiry to the Constitutional Court.
