Sweden and Finland's NATO Membership was Pointless, Says Putin
Sweden and Finland's entry into NATO was a pointless step, said Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with journalist Dmitry Kiselev on "Rossiya 1" and "RIA Novosti."
"Why did they do it? In my opinion, purely political considerations, they probably wanted to be part of a Western club under some sort of protection," the president noted.
According to the Russian leader, this action is a pointless step in terms of securing their "own national interests."
