There is No Territorial Unit Named 'Zangezur' in Armenia, Rubinyan
There are no discussions in Armenia regarding the suspension of relations with the Eurasian Economic Union. This statement was made today by Ruben Rubinyan, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly and special representative for the normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, during a diplomatic forum in Antalya, in response to a question from a Turkish journalist.
He then addressed the journalist's mention of the term 'Zangezur Corridor,' emphasizing, "If we want to achieve peace, it is important that we do not use sensitive terminology for the parties involved. There is no territorial unit named 'Zangezur' in Armenia; there is the Syunik Province, the city of Meghri, and so on."
Rubinyan stated that Armenia's position on unblocking all infrastructure in the South Caucasus region is clear, as presented in the 'Crossroads of Peace' initiative proposed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. This initiative is based on principles that ensure all infrastructures, both existing from Soviet times and new ones, will be operated under the conditions of country sovereignty, jurisdiction, equality, and reciprocity.
In response to a question regarding communications and security in the South Caucasus, Rubinyan mentioned that in his opinion, Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia are the countries that can fully ensure communication security within their territories. "In any case, I can speak on behalf of Armenia. We have a special unit recently created within the framework of the national security organization. This way, we are strengthening communication security that passes through Armenia's territory. It is even not worth discussing this issue," Rubinyan added.
