We Will Appeal to the Constitutional Court to Ban the Activities of the 'Civil Contract' Party
Mesrop Arakelyan, co-founder of the 'Country of Living' party, wrote on his Facebook page: 'The 'Civil Contract' party has been promoting ideas against the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia since at least October 2022, which has caused significant harm to the Republic of Armenia and its citizens. Specifically, as a result of the actions of this party, there has been a complete loss of the Republic of Artsakh, and the territorial losses of the Republic of Armenia are now subject to discussions on delimitation, raising doubts about many attributes of sovereignty.
According to the Constitution, the territorial integrity and the inviolability of the borders of the Republic of Armenia are also becoming subjects of debate within the framework of this party's propaganda. It is evident that this party's propaganda serves the interests of another state or states, which contradicts the norm of sovereignty that is enshrined in the Constitution and is not subject to modification.
At least two other parties are showing similar behavior in their propaganda as well. While the Armenian people and history will render their deserved assessment of such parties, I emphasize that as a legal state, we should also have a legal evaluation. In the near future, we intend to begin political and legal consultations aimed at appealing to the Constitutional Court for the prohibition of the activities of the 'Civil Contract' party, in accordance with Part 4 of Article 46 of the Constitution and Article 33 of the Law on Political Parties, as well as Article 85 of the Law on the Constitutional Court.
All political forces acting against the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia should be excluded,' Arakelyan stated.
