Sanctions Against Azerbaijan in Case of Military Aggression: EU Adopts Favorable Resolutions
The European Parliament has adopted two resolutions regarding external policy and EU security and defense policy, each urging the EU to impose immediate sanctions against Azerbaijan and suspend the memorandum on strategic energy partnership.
It calls for targeted and individual sanctions against Azerbaijan's political and military leadership, as well as the suspension of oil and gas imports from Azerbaijan in the event of any military aggression against Armenia.
Additionally, it proposes to strengthen the mandate of the EU mission in Armenia, increase its size, extend its duration, and deploy observers along the border with Turkey.
The Parliament also suggests suspending negotiations on a new partnership agreement with Azerbaijan.
