I Cannot Deny That There Is a Danger: Papikyan
Regardless of what the security environment will be after signing a peace treaty with Azerbaijan, the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia will continue to purchase defensive weapons and ammunition. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Suren Papikyan during a joint press conference at the Ministry of Defense administrative complex.
According to him, the agreements signed today between Armenia and France are precisely about this. “The Republic of Armenia purchases weapons and ammunition in order to protect its territorial integrity and sovereignty. The weapons and ammunition purchased by Armenia are not directed against any country in terms of aggression. Of course, I cannot deny that there is a danger, and it is visible from the current rhetoric. Our responsibility is to protect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our country,” said Papikyan.
He recalled that Armenia has adopted a policy of renewing and modernizing the capabilities of its armed forces. This is being done both with its own resources and with the support of European countries, which will help our country.
