VIDEO: Recognition of Genocide is a Political Bargain – Khachatur Sukiasyan
“We also bear responsibility in the genocide. On February 8, during a conversation with journalists, Khachatur Sukiasyan, a member of the Civil Contract faction, responded to the question of whether Armenia is abandoning its demand for recognition of the genocide.
“Who is refusing genocide? First, the genocide that has been committed is the most disgraceful thing that a people like ours have been able to endure to such an extent. There is also our guilt in that we have been unable to organize ourselves and defend ourselves. And this should not be a lesson for us to cry, but a lesson for us to become stronger so that our future generations never find themselves in such a situation again. I don’t care who recognizes what; I need to be strong,” Sukiasyan noted.
According to him, recognition of genocide is a political bargain: “We need a powerful state. When it has a political problem, then it recognizes.”
