Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Armenia's Withdrawal from CSTO
Armenia's security, including in the military-technical sector, seems impossible without cooperation within the CSTO. This was stated by Viktor Vasiliev, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s special envoy for CSTO issues, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
“I cannot provide you with the information that clearly indicates that Armenia's security, including in the military-technical field, is not possible without cooperation within the CSTO framework,” Vasiliev said.
Furthermore, the diplomat added that Russia observes attempts by Western countries to exploit the situation in Armenia to exacerbate conditions not only there but throughout the entire Caucasus. “We are using discussions within the CSTO framework at all levels to draw our Armenian partners' attention to this deliberate policy of the Western countries,” he emphasized.
