I Am Shameless on This Matter: Vladimir Gasparyan
Today, former Chief of Police of Armenia Vladimir Gasparyan testified at the Anti-Corruption Criminal Court. Presiding judge Vardges Sargsyan stated during the proceedings that Gasparyan, while he was the head of the Military Police, signed appointment orders for three servicemen who did not report for duty and worked as drivers instead.
When asked if he, like Yerranoyan, felt ashamed to inform his superior, the Minister of Defense, that these servicemen were not showing up for duty, as Yerranoyan felt ashamed to inform him that his own daughter was also not going to work, Gasparyan responded, “I am shameless on this matter.”
In reply, the judge remarked, “Yes, we see that Yerranoyan is very ashamed…”
Gasparyan retorted, “That ashamed person has a kilo of collard greens, are you thinking he has a belly or not, the whole belly is a joke…”
When asked if he sees his shortcomings as part of the issue, Gasparyan replied, “I am sinking into the ground, I am ashamed of this… I am joking… what else can I say,” he responded to the judge's admonition that this is not a place for jokes.
