9 Islamists Eliminated in the Philippines

Nine militants from the extremist group 'Dawlah Islamiya' have been eliminated during a military operation in Mindanao (South Lanao province) in the Philippines. This was reported by The Manila Times, with information relayed by RIA Novosti.

According to military officials, two of the militants were involved in a terrorist attack that occurred in December 2023 at the Mindanao University in Marawi City. During the operation, eight firearms were confiscated.

Authorities report that the 'Dawlah Islamiya' group is responsible for organizing an explosion in the university's gymnasium during a Catholic Mass, which resulted in 4 fatalities and over 50 injuries.

On December 8, Philippine law enforcement arrested one of the suspects, who had brought an improvised explosive device to the gym. Authorities are continuing to search for other individuals involved in this act of terrorism.
