VIDEO: Molten Lava Reaches Icelandic Town, Completely Destroys Homes
Molten lava in Iceland has encroached upon a town and completely destroyed three homes. Authorities have declared the day a "black" one for the country.
Approximately 4,000 residents have been evacuated from the coastal town of Grindavik due to volcanic eruptions, which have partially devastated the area. The intense lava flow has reached residential buildings, destroying three of them, while the asphalt has been covered with large cracks.
According to official statements, most of the town has been protected by barriers built after intensive seismic activity began in the region last November, meaning that some parts of the community have not suffered any damage at all.
Local media reports indicate that there have been no updates on injured or deceased individuals; however, some agricultural animals could not be evacuated, and the eruption is gradually calming down.
