Explosions Rock Road Leading to General Soleimani's Grave in Iran: What We Know
Explosions have been reported on the road leading to the grave of General Qassem Soleimani in the city of Kerman, Iran. This news has been confirmed by local media outlets.
The explosions occurred during a large gathering commemorating the anniversary of Soleimani's death.
According to the Irna agency, 15 people have been injured in the blasts.
Recall that on the night of January 3, 2020, the United States carried out an operation near Baghdad International Airport that killed Iranian General Qassem Soleimani, head of a special forces unit of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces. Washington believed that they were involved in organizing the attack on the U.S. embassy in Baghdad on December 31, 2019. In response, Iran targeted U.S. military bases in Iraq.
