«This is very good news» - Peskov
The approval of the Russian resolution against the glorification of Nazism by the UN General Assembly is a positive development, said Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of Russia, to journalists.
“This is very good news, and we welcome those who joined it,” he said in response to a journalist's question on how the Kremlin interprets the General Assembly's decision.
The resolution was adopted the day before, with 118 countries supporting it and 49 opposing it. Among those who voted against were Canada, the USA, Ukraine, and Japan. Countries such as Algeria, Bolivia, Brazil, China, and Cuba supported the resolution.
“This is an extremely important topic, especially for the modern world, where we see in certain places how neo-Nazis are trying to rise by bowing down before the old Nazis in some countries, so the adoption of such declarations is exceedingly important,” emphasized the press secretary of the President of Russia.
