Tense Situation in the South China Sea: China Shells Philippine Vessels
China's Coast Guard has again shelled Philippine Coast Guard vessels in the Ayungin area of the South China Sea. This was reported by TASS.
The incident occurred while the Philippine vessels were engaged in resupply missions and crew rotations for the Sierra Madre ship. The Philippines has accused China of aggression, marking another escalation in tensions between the neighbors. According to Philippine authorities, the shells from the coast guard vessels caused "significant damage" to one of the ships.
This is not the first instance of such an incident; a similar event occurred in August this year, and several months ago a Chinese vessel used a laser to blind Philippine coast guard personnel.
