Heated Fight in City Hall Draws Attention of Law Enforcement: Who Has Been Summoned for Questioning
The daily newspaper 'Zhoghovurd' reports that one of the female members of the Yerevan City Council has been summoned to the Central Investigation Department of the Republic of Armenia's Investigative Committee.
In a scandalous session of the City Council held in Yerevan, member Sona Aghekyan from the 'Mother Armenia' faction has been invited for questioning regarding the incident. Furthermore, it has become known that Aghekyan has again been summoned to the Investigative Committee today for further questioning.
According to information, investigators have posed questions to Aghekyan regarding the origin of the incident, what others have said about her, and why she poured a glass of water on fellow council member Ani Khachatryan.
Many questions remain to be asked to council member Sona Aghekyan, which is why she will be interrogated again today.
What exactly did Sona Aghekyan do during the incident at City Hall? Council member Ani Khachatryan made statements from the podium that heated up the atmosphere in the hall. When Khachatryan left the podium to return to her seat, Sona Aghekyan poured a glass of water over her, which triggered the entire altercation.
It remains to be seen whether the committee will pursue this incident to the end and hold anyone accountable, or if it will be curtailed like the case of the brawl among deputies in the National Assembly, similar to the Anti-Corruption Committee’s example.
