Turkey Plans to Purchase New Fighter Jets Regardless of Germany's Stance
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has announced that Turkey will secure its own fighter jets despite Germany's position on supplying Eurofighters to Ankara.
Turkey intends to buy 40 Eurofighter jets, has received approval from the United Kingdom and Spain, and is attempting to persuade Germany, as stated earlier by the country’s National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler.
“Is Germany the only country in the world that produces fighter jets? Many countries are working on it. Currently, Turkey is one of the leading countries in drones. As a representative of the media, there is no need to threaten us with that; ask us diligent questions, and we will provide you with answers in this regard,” Erdoğan said during a joint press conference in Berlin with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. He was responding to a reporter's question about what would happen if Germany refused to sell fighter jets to Turkey.
