Higher Parking Fees Planned for the Small Center: Harutyunyan
In the framework of efforts to ease congestion in Yerevan's Small Center, a new approach is being considered for the paid parking system. This was stated by Vasgen Harutyunyan, head of the Transport Department of the Yerevan Municipality, in an interview with Armenpress.
Harutyunyan noted that the issue of revising parking fees in the Small Center is currently under discussion. 'This could serve as a deterrent tool. Through this, the Yerevan Municipality will try to limit the influx of a large number of vehicles into the city center. We plan to implement zoning for paid parking in the city. According to this, a different fee will be set for each zone,' he stated, adding that a higher fee is expected to be established for parking in the Small Center.
In the conversation with the media, Harutyunyan informed that a relevant decision would be made by the end of the year, the details of which will be presented to the residents of Yerevan. The new approach to parking is set to be in effect by January 2024.
