Israel Indicates Terms for Ceasefire Agreement
More than 240 hostages held by the Palestinian militant group Hamas are still alive, as Israel has opposed any ceasefire without their release. This was reported by The Jerusalem Post, citing an Israeli diplomatic source. The information is relayed by TASS.
The source believes that Hamas might agree to a deal regarding the hostages under pressure from ground operations. “Initially, nothing was visible in that direction, but now some things are becoming apparent, though it has not yet matured,” the source stated.
According to the source, any agreement on a ceasefire will actually be temporary and will resemble a pause in hostilities. This could only occur in exchange for the release of all hostages, with a clear understanding that Israel will continue to “work towards defeating Hamas.”
