Israeli Ambassador Announces Surprise Ground Operations in Gaza
The Israeli ground operation in the Gaza Strip will begin unexpectedly, without prior announcement. This was stated by Alexander Ben Zvi, the Israeli ambassador to Russia, in an interview with TASS.
Commenting on the possible timing for the commencement of ground operations in Gaza, the head of the Israeli diplomatic mission noted that “if such operations begin, they start unexpectedly to create some advantage.”
When asked whether to expect that the ground operations in the Gaza Strip would also begin unexpectedly, Ben Zvi replied affirmatively, stating, “You say that if you start at 12:18 on this date, it doesn’t happen that way.”
The ambassador also commented on speculations regarding the potential start of corresponding actions within the next one or two weeks. “Whether it’s likely or not, we do not have any confirmed data, as this is a decision made at the level of the government and the military leadership,” the diplomat emphasized. “That is to say, several factors must be in place.”
First and foremost, the army must be prepared, he explained. Additionally, according to the ambassador, there needs to be a “government decision related to internal and external factors.”
The diplomat also noted that the Israeli army conducted a short operation in the Gaza Strip on Thursday night using tanks. “I don’t know if this can be called part of a ground operation, but it was an operation, it took place on the ground. I know that a brief operation was carried out to destroy some position or bunker, but nothing more,” the ambassador added.
