Three Inspectors Urge to Open Cargo Compartment at Armenia-Georgia Border: When Will Our Regulations Start Working? Tunyan
During a meeting of the National Assembly's Committee on Economic Affairs, the committee chairman Babken Tunyan asked the Deputy Chairman of the State Revenue Committee, Karen Tamazyan, why the one-stop regulations they adopted do not function at border crossing points, which were supposed to simplify the lives of individuals crossing the Armenian border.
He shared his personal experience from a month ago when he crossed the Armenia-Georgia border. “On my way there, one person approached, and when I was returning, three people urged me to open the cargo compartment. What’s the reason for this, and when will our regulations finally begin to work?” he said.
Karen Tamazyan responded, “I cannot say specifically. Typically, when crossing the border, one inspector approaches to conduct the review.”
“You are definitely right; it shouldn’t be like this. They want to implement a tablet-based system where the inspector who checks the cargo compartment notes it in the system, and other inspectors will not approach,” he said.
