Trump's Influence in Britain Highlighted as a Threat to Ukraine in US Congress
According to the British newspaper The Guardian, Donald Trump's ideological influence has compelled many Republicans in the House of Representatives to oppose aid to Ukraine, which could have serious consequences for Kyiv.
The publication notes that with the growing popularity of the Republican Party's 'America First' ideology, anti-Ukrainian sentiments have begun to spread and infiltrate Congress. Most Republicans in the lower chamber are skeptical or even openly hostile towards the issue of aid to Ukraine.
This radical anti-Ukrainian stance among Republicans complicates the selection of a new speaker following Kevin McCarthy's resignation. Republicans fear alienating the party's radical wing and repeating the fate of the outgoing speaker.
The Guardian also suggests that delaying aid to Ukraine could harm its military operations.
