NATO Considers Israel's Response to Hamas Attack Proportional
NATO considers Israel's response to the Hamas attack to be proportional and hopes it will remain so. This was stated by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a press conference following the first day of the NATO defense ministers' meeting.
“Israel's response is proportional, and we expect it to remain proportional. We also expect that as the conflict continues, Israel will do everything possible to prevent civilian casualties. We also urge all countries and organizations hostile to Israel not to attempt to exploit the situation, which could lead to an escalation of the conflict,” he said.
“We see that the United States has increased its military presence in the conflict zone to prevent further escalation,” he added. According to him, Israel has already received support from several NATO countries in the form of “intelligence and other types of assistance.” NATO expects that Israel will do everything possible to avoid casualties among the civilian population.
