France Ready to Sign Agreement with Armenia for Military Equipment Supply: Catherine Colonna
France's Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna has stated that Paris is ready to sign an agreement with Yerevan to supply military equipment to Armenia. “With my visit to Armenia, I want to show that France will remain vigilant regarding the territorial integrity of our friendly country, Armenia, and any threats to it,” Colonna noted during a joint press conference with the Armenian Foreign Minister.
Addressing the depopulation of Nagorno-Karabakh, the French Foreign Minister emphasized that the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh did not leave their homes voluntarily; this was forced displacement. “I must emphasize once again that what occurred is a gross violation of international law. I feel the need to reiterate this, as we are hearing claims stating that people left their homes voluntarily. This is not the case,” she stated.
The French Foreign Minister stressed the importance of appropriately assessing this fact and added that such falsehoods will not mislead anyone. “In the midst of this horrific humanitarian disaster, France has allocated €12.5 million in aid to Armenia, aimed at ensuring decent conditions for the forcibly displaced. I promise that this assistance will be ongoing and will be provided again if necessary,” she said.
