We Will Ban the Sale of Single-Use Plastic Containers: Minister of Environment

According to regulations established in 2019, as of January 1, 2022, a rule prohibiting the sale of polyethylene bags thicker than 50 microns came into force. The communities monitored this as much as possible; however, the results were not entirely satisfactory. Minister of Environment Hakob Simidyanc stated this during a government session on August 3.

“We now have a project which, in essence, will prohibit the sale of any type of polyethylene bags. We will also ban the sale of single-use plastic containers. I hope that this decision will allow us to solve the bag issue,” said Simidyanc.
