Administrative Court Petition Filed Against Pashinyan Demanding Prohibition on Recognizing Artsakh as Part of Azerbaijani Territory
Lawyer and former President of the Chamber of Advocates Ara Zohrapyan and the President of the Artsakh Chamber of Advocates Erik Beglaryan filed a joint petition with the administrative court against Nikol Pashinyan on August 2. Ara Zohrapyan announced this at a press conference today, stating that they demanded to declare Pashinyan's actions unlawful.
“We have asked the administrative court to recognize the actions expressed by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan regarding the acknowledgment of the Republic of Artsakh within the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan as unlawful. As a consequential request for the elimination of the consequences, we demanded to prohibit Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan from taking any action to recognize the Republic of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan, including signing any documents,” Zohrapyan noted.
He emphasized that the Constitution of Armenia is based on the Declaration of Independence of Armenia, which in turn is founded on the 1989 decision of the Supreme Council, which spoke of the unification of Armenia and Artsakh. “Moreover, the Supreme Council made a decision on July 8, 1992, according to which: 1. To consistently support the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh and the protection of the rights of its population. 2. To consider any international or domestic document unacceptable for the Republic of Armenia that would mention the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan,” Zohrapyan quoted from the decision.
