Former German Chancellor Angela Merkel was forced to get drenched in the rain during the annual festival of composer Richard Wagner's music, according to Bild.

The festival took place in Bayreuth. The publication reports that the politician's husband, Joachim Sauer, did not share his umbrella with Merkel despite the heavy rain.

"The rain is being a bully in Bayreuth. Whether it's Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder or Merkel's husband Joachim Sauer, they only kept their umbrellas for themselves," the report stated.

Bild noted that the men appeared to be inconsiderate before the event, leading to an awkward situation as their wives, including Merkel, were dressed in evening attire and found themselves in the rain.

Additionally, Reuters' photo coverage shows a slightly different image from the festival, indicating that the former Chancellor of Germany actually had her own umbrella.
