Iran Ready to Hold '3+3' Meeting with Officials from Armenia and Azerbaijan

Iran is focused on establishing peace in the Caucasus region, stated Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, announcing Tehran's readiness to hold a '3+3' meeting involving officials from Armenia and Azerbaijan. This was reported by IRNA, according to Armenpress.

"The South Caucasus region holds great significance for Iran," said Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian during a press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan. He added, "Iran welcomes rapprochement among the countries of the region and the progress in peaceful negotiations between Armenia and Azerbaijan."

Amir-Abdollahian emphasized, "Iran is focused on establishing peace in the Caucasus region," further noting that his recent meetings with Azerbaijani President Aliyev, as well as a meeting with Armenia's Prime Minister in recent months, and today's meeting with the Armenian Foreign Minister can be viewed as steps taken by Iran to create stable peace and security in the region.

According to him, Tehran believes that peace and security among neighbors correspond to the common interests of the countries in the region. "The Caucasus region should not become a stage for power struggles and competition, as this prolongs peace in the region," he remarked, adding that lasting peace requires friendly and smooth communication between governments and nations.

"We welcome the '3+3' format among the countries of the region, and Iran announces its readiness to host this meeting, which will also include Armenia and Azerbaijan," he concluded.
