Aliyev: Armenia Has Made Truly Important Statement

The peace treaty between Azerbaijan and Armenia could be achieved in the near future. This statement was made by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during an interview with China Media Group, as reported by Azerbaijani media.

"Why do I think so? Because they recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan over 86,600 square kilometers, which includes ‘Karabakh’ and the eight ‘Azerbaijani enclaves’ within Armenian territory. This is indeed an important statement, after which we just need to put it on paper and sign it," said Aliyev.

"I believe that if they really mean what they say, and if this is not yet another political maneuver, if this is not a repetition of the old story of trying to delay the process, then we can reach and sign a peace treaty by the end of the year," Aliyev added.

It is worth noting that earlier Aliyev also mentioned regarding the citizens of the Republic of Artsakh that "their rights and security will be ensured based on the Constitution of Azerbaijan."
