Zelensky Dismisses Ambassador After Criticism of His 'Unhealthy Sarcasm'
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has dismissed Vadym Prystaiko, the Ambassador to the United Kingdom, who had previously criticized him for expressing gratitude every morning to British Minister Ben Wallace for military assistance.
The corresponding decree has been published on the official website of the President's Office, as reported by pravda.com.ua.
“The decree of the President of Ukraine on the dismissal of V. Prystaiko from office” states the text of the document.
The diplomat has also been stripped of his position as Ukraine's permanent representative to the International Maritime Organization. According to open sources, Prystaiko has held the position of Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration since March 2020.
In July, British Defense Minister Ben Wallace had stated that Ukraine should be more grateful for Western assistance. In response, Volodymyr Zelensky recorded an eight-minute video in which he said “thank you” 47 times, adding that he could express gratitude to the British minister every morning.
Prystaiko had criticized the President's release, pointing out his “unhealthy sarcasm.”
