Video: The USSR Emblem on Kyiv's Motherland Monument to be Replaced by Ukraine's Emblem
The emblem of the USSR on the shield of Kyiv's Motherland Monument will be replaced by Ukraine's emblem, announced the country's Ministry of Culture.
It is worth noting that the Motherland Monument was installed in 1981. The 62-meter-high stainless steel statue holds a 16-meter sword in one hand and a shield adorned with the USSR emblem in the other. The overall height of the monument is 102 meters, making it visible from all distant corners of Kyiv.
