Azerbaijan to Launch Satellite Through Israeli Company
The Azerbaijani Agency for Digital Development and Transport, under which the "Azercosmos" agency operates, has initiated a project to launch a new satellite into orbit for Earth remote sensing. "This does not mean that the satellite will be ready immediately. It is a long-term process that may take several years. We expect the new satellite to be launched into space in 2025-26," said Samadin Asadov, the president of "Azercosmos."
A competition has been held for this purpose, with companies from Europe, Asia, and the United States participating. The winner is the Israeli company that offered the agency the most favorable price.
The Azersky satellite is one of three satellites owned by Azerbaijan, with the other two being communication satellites Azerspace-1 and Azerspace-2.
