We Will Closely Monitor the Results of the Erdogan-Zelensky Negotiations. Peskov
The Kremlin is eagerly awaiting the results of the negotiations between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, scheduled to take place on July 7 in Istanbul. This was stated by Dmitry Peskov, the official representative of the Kremlin.
“Of course, we will closely monitor the results of the negotiations. We maintain our constructive, partner relations with Ankara. We value that relationship highly and feel the reciprocity from the Turkish side. Therefore, it will certainly be interesting for us to find out what will be discussed between Mr. Erdogan and Mr. Zelensky,” Peskov said during a press briefing.
As Peskov noted, the Turkish leader has made significant efforts to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, acting as a mediator. This has always been highly valued by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
When speaking about the possibility of further meetings between Erdogan and his Russian counterpart, the Kremlin spokesperson did not rule it out. “Regarding upcoming communications, we do not exclude that. Putin and Erdogan often communicate, and we will keep you informed,” Peskov told reporters.
On July 6, Erdogan's office confirmed that a meeting between Erdogan and Zelensky would take place on July 7 in Istanbul. It was noted that a press conference may follow at the residence of the Turkish leader, located at Vahdettin Pavilion.
