Photos: Artak of 'SAS' Dismantles Lawn and Cuts Trees Near Supermarket in Malatia
Near the address 40/14 Andranik Street in the Malatia administrative district, the 'SAS Group' supermarket’s green lawn area has been dismantled, trees cut down, and the area paved with asphalt. This was reported by 'Haykakan Zhamanak'.
In an interview with the media outlet, Armen Begoyan, director of Yerevan's Municipality 'Greening and Environmental Protection' agency, clarified that the incident occurred on Saturday, July 1st. 'Overnight, the operator dismantled that area to enlarge the parking lot, but in the morning we documented this. We contacted the police and informed the district mayor. With our efforts, the asphalt-paved area was dismantled, and the green lawn area was restored by the operator,' he detailed.
According to Begoyan, 'There were four tuya-type trees in the lawn area, which the operator also cut down and removed at the roots. The issue regarding the trees has been discussed, and now it needs to be decided what types of trees will be planted. The operator will also be responsible for replanting them.' It is noteworthy that the founder of the 'SAS Group' is former MP and businessman Artak Sarkisyan, who is more widely known as 'Artak of SAS'.
