Final Charges Filed Against Two Armenian Soldiers Abducted From Armenia
The court hearing regarding the case of Armenian captives Harutyun Yuriki Hovakimyann and Karen Ashoti Ghazaryan concerning serious crimes in Sumgait has commenced. This information has been reported by Azerbaijani media.
The judge read the final charges, stating that on May 26 at around 19:00, the accused illegally crossed the state border of Azerbaijan with a group of individuals, premeditatedly, as part of an ‘Armed Forces Diversion Group of the Republic of Armenia’. Armed with illegally obtained firearms and military equipment, they exercised force against the servicemen of Azerbaijan's border guard service stationed in the Zangilan border detachment. This act was allegedly aimed at carrying out terrorism within Azerbaijan by smuggling firearms and ammunition into the Razdara village of the Zangilan region.
It is noteworthy that soldiers Harutyun Yuriki Hovakimyann and Karen Ashoti Ghazaryan were abducted from the Armenian sovereign territory on May 26.
