Zelensky Claims Russia Will Detonate Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant Soon

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has assured Spanish journalists that Russia is expected to detonate the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in the coming days. “He (Putin) is uncontrollable even within his own territory. The fact is that the plant is mined, and the Atomic Energy Agency confirms this. If we can transfer control to the IAEA, they will detonate it remotely,” Zelensky stated.

Moreover, it is worth mentioning that earlier, IAEA chief Rafael Grossi expressed hope that a security zone around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant would be established by the end of this year.

It is important to note that the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is located on the left bank of the Dnieper, near the city of Enerhodar. It is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe in terms of the number of reactors and installed capacity. The plant features six energy units. Since March, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been under the protection of Russian military forces. The Russian Foreign Ministry has emphasized that this step is necessary to prevent the leakage of nuclear and radioactive materials.
