Traveling to Georgia with Armenian ID Card Currently Not Possible, Says MFA
Traveling from Armenia to Georgia with an ID card will only be possible after a date confirmation between the parties. This information was shared by Ani Badalyan, spokesperson for the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in response to inquiries regarding the timeframe for traveling to Georgia with an Armenian ID card.
"On June 26, 2023, the National Assembly of Armenia adopted the law on ratifying the agreement. The next step is to confirm the relevant date between the parties for the agreement to take effect," the MFA spokesperson stated.
Traveling to Georgia with an Armenian ID card (which contains electronic data) will be possible only after the agreement signed on January 12, 2023, comes into force. This agreement concerns the reciprocal visa-free travel for citizens of both states.
Ani Badalyan also noted that information regarding the entry into force of the agreement will be published by the MFA on official platforms.
It is noteworthy that the Armenian government approved the proposal to sign the agreement on visa-free travel between the citizens of Armenia and Georgia during its meeting on January 12. This means that citizens of both countries will be able to visit each other without time restrictions, and they will be able to cross the border using their ID cards.
