Only 30,000 AMD for 1 Ton of Apricots, Says MP
“Only 30,000 AMD for 1 ton of apricots,” stated Garnik Danielyan, a member of the National Assembly from the Armenian ‘Hayastan’ faction. He made the announcement on his Facebook page.
“We’re waiting for the apricots to drop, so we can gather them for 30-40 AMD,” farmers expressed their concerns during my discussions with them. One of them mentioned that they received only 30,000 AMD for a ton of apricots.
Recently, I raised concerns that apricots are spoiling due to traffic jams and thorough inspections at the Upper Lars checkpoint. Often, attempts to illegally export tobacco result in damage to apricot exporters.
Regarding the sale of apricots in agricultural markets, farmers report that one bus leaving the village can carry 500-600 kg of apricots, while they face the challenge of having several tons to harvest.
He further added that in a desperate situation, people are leaving their apricots to fall and then sell them at a minimal price for preservation purposes.
