Our Expectations from the Police are Significantly Higher than Current Results: Khachatryan

On the night of June 24, police officers from the Patrol Service entered the BAN club located at 3 Baghramyan Street based on a citizen’s alert, where they discovered the weighing of narcotics with an electronic scale, as well as methadone-type drugs near a 21-year-old girl and other incidents of drug circulation.

This was reminded by Armenian MP of the 'Civil Contract' faction, Armen Khachatryan, on his Facebook page, stating that it is an undeniable truth that the police must conduct extensive operations in urgent mode to prevent, counteract, and uncover illegal drug circulation.

“It is also an undeniable fact that our expectations from the police are significantly greater than the current results. Every parent is obliged to be informed, for instance, about where their daughter is and what she is doing at 4 a.m. I urge the police to publish the names of public facilities in such disclosures. The public should also be aware of where the incident took place, what risks there are in public facilities,” Khachatryan urged.

It should be noted that earlier, it was reported that an operational group dispatched to one of the clubs on Baghramyan Avenue noticed young individuals displaying suspicious behavior, with loud noises coming from one of the rooms. Upon entering, law enforcement discovered young people who possessed a substance resembling narcotics, which was weighed using a jewelry scale. There was also a narcotic found in a thermos belonging to one of the young individuals.

A total of 36 young people, including citizens of Armenia and Russia, were arrested and taken to the police station on suspicion of drug possession, use, and trafficking. Among them, a large quantity of narcotics was found in the underwear of a 21-year-old girl. Several of the 36 individuals have been detained, including the owner of the club.
