Russian General Killed in Ukraine
In Ukraine, reportedly in the Zaporizhzhia region, on June 12, Major General Sergey Goryachev, Chief of Staff of the 35th Army of the Russian Armed Forces, was killed. He was buried on June 18 at the Seraphim Cemetery in Saint Petersburg, but this information was released on June 20. The news of the general's death was revealed by Yuri Kotenok, a blogger covering the Russian-Ukrainian war. According to his post, Goryachev was killed during a counter-offensive initiated by Ukrainian forces in the Vremivka area of the Zaporizhzhia region.
The news of the general's death was confirmed by Vladimir Rogov, appointed by Moscow as the head of the Zaporizhzhia region. 'In Goryachev, the army has lost one of its brightest and most effective commanders,' Rogov wrote on his Telegram channel. It is believed that Goryachev is at least the 10th Russian general to be killed in Ukraine. He had received this rank relatively recently.
