Russia Appeals to UN Security Council Meeting on Western Arms Supplies to Ukraine

The Russian Federation's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN Dmitry Polyansky has announced on his Telegram channel that the Russian side has submitted a request for a meeting of the United Nations Security Council on June 29.

According to the diplomat, since Russia is "traditionally opposed to the promotion of a unilateral Western narrative in the UN Security Council," it has asked to hold a meeting on the supply of Western arms to Ukraine and its consequences for diplomatic efforts to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.

"As we expect, it will start at 22:00 Moscow time. We will try to find an interesting speaker who can cover this story objectively and professionally," Polyansky wrote.

He also noted that on June 23, Western countries requested to hold a traditional meeting regarding the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, which will begin at 17:00 Moscow time.

Earlier, Alexey Polishchuk, director of the second department for the CIS countries at the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that Moscow has no illusions that the West is capable of stopping arms supplies to Kyiv.

Meanwhile, a representative of the White House has stated that supplying arms to Kyiv will not only assist in defense but also allow for the reclamation of lost territories, including Crimea.
