Was Vazgen Sargsyan Giving Up Artsakh? How October 27 Unfolded – Nikol Pashinyan to the Opposition
Was Vazgen Sargsyan giving up Artsakh, and was that the reason he was killed, or was it possibly because you were giving up Meghri? This was stated today, June 15, by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during his closing remarks at the National Assembly's discussion on the 2022 state budget annual report, addressing the opposition.
“So what happened on October 27? It was such that in cafes, including those present in the hall, some individuals spoke with the Nairi Hunanyan group, saying that Vazgen was the root of all the problems, and if Vazgen were not here... They had their cadres; they knew where to push the buttons. One was the leader of one of the factions, another was the head of the NSS, whose employee reported that there was such a person who said he would enter and shoot in parliament. And where was Serzh Sargsyan on October 27, 1999? He was not in the city. Why were you generating that same hatred against Vazgen Sargsyan? Was Vazgen Sargsyan giving Artsakh away? Or if you weren’t giving up Artsakh, why would you need to give up Meghri to take Artsakh? By discussing even the topic of exchanging Meghri for Artsakh, you acknowledged that Artsakh belongs to Azerbaijan,” Pashinyan stated.
