PHOTOS: Hail Protection Stations Either Absent or Ineffective in Preventing Disaster, Says Haik Melkonyan

Hail protection stations are either nonexistent or have not operated effectively to prevent such disasters. This was stated by Haik Melkonyan, founder of the 'Bountiful Armenia' group, on his Facebook page, where he also shared photographs.

“Recently, there were heavy hail and torrential rains in various regions of Armenia — the Spitak region of Lori Province, the Chambarak region of Gegharkunik Province, and the Sisian region of Syunik Province. In none of these areas did hail protection stations either exist or function to avert such a catastrophe. Agricultural yields have sustained significant damage. I sympathize with everyone affected,” he wrote.

Earlier, it was reported that in one of the communities in Lori, nearly 90% of the harvest was damaged due to the severe hail.
