VIDEO: Don't report that work is completed if it later turns out the white line runs through a water puddle – Avinyan
The head of the Transport Department of the Yerevan City Hall, Vazgen Harutyunyan, has presented the progress of the implementation of the program for designated lanes for public transport. According to him, a separate lane for public transport has already been designated on Gay Avenue.
“This change in traffic organization will contribute to ensuring the continuity of public transport operations, which in itself will solve several issues,” he stated. He added that this will increase the average speed of the routes, helping to maintain the schedule. Additionally, it will reduce the congestion of public transport and so on.
Yerevan's Deputy Mayor Tigran Avinyan noted that this is a trial program, and he suggests understanding its concept. He cited Tbilisi as an example, emphasizing that their experience should also be utilized. “They have had problems and still do. Traffic jams there are terrible due to the same line markings. We need to understand the reasons so that we proceed a bit more cautiously,” he said.
Tigran Avinyan also remarked that sometimes line markings are done through potholes. “Make sure such things do not happen, where you report that the work is completed and later we find that a white line runs through a water puddle,” he remarked. For more details, watch the video.
