Iran's Foreign Ministry Announces Negotiations with the US on Lifting Sanctions
Iran and the United States are engaged in negotiations in Oman regarding the lifting of sanctions against Tehran, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nasser Kanaani announced on Monday.
Commenting on reports of Iranian-American consultations in Oman, Kanaani stated that Tehran welcomes the mediation of the Sultanate of Oman to initiate discussions on lifting the sanctions. He noted that with Oman's support, Iran and the US have already exchanged views, and the dialogue is ongoing.
At the same time, Kanaani refuted assumptions that the goal of the negotiations is to sign a new interim agreement regarding Iran's nuclear program. The Foreign Ministry representative emphasized that Tehran intends to conduct consultations only concerning the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
“We consider everything else to be media speculations. We do not confirm the information regarding negotiations on an interim agreement,” he clarified.
