One Billion Counterfeit Dollars Seized in Istanbul

The Istanbul Gendarmerie has seized the largest batch of counterfeit banknotes in Turkey's history, valued at one billion dollars. These notes were intended for export to African countries, according to Turkish agency DHA.

Reportedly, 10 million 100-dollar bills were confiscated from a warehouse in one of Istanbul's districts, where the counterfeit dollars were stored.

As part of the investigation, six individuals have already been arrested, including three Swedes, as well as citizens from Britain and Ghana. Searches were conducted at residences where the foreigners were living, resulting in the seizure of large sums of money and valuable items.

The diplomatic missions of the countries whose citizens have been arrested have been informed about the ongoing investigation against them.
