Gayané Hakobyan's Arrest Replaced with House Arrest
The Court of Appeal, presided over by Judge Grigor Hovhannisyan, today overturned the defense's appeal against the arrest of Gayané Hakobyan, accused in the case involving Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's son, Ashot Pashinyan, and decided to change her imprisonment measure to house arrest, Gayané Hakobyan's lawyer, Georgi Melikyan, told Aysor.am.
However, Gayané Hakobyan has not yet been released.
It is worth recalling that on May 20, the General Jurisdiction Court of Yerevan, under the chairmanship of Judge Zhora Chichoyan, had decided to arrest Gayané Hakobyan, the mother of soldier Zhora Martirosyan who was killed during the 44-day war.
Gayané Hakobyan was initially detained for one month and was charged in connection with the abduction of Ashot Pashinyan, the Prime Minister's son.
The defense had requested that house arrest be applied as an alternative measure, allowing access to the Yerablur military cemetery regularly, along with administrative oversight (a prohibition on contact with Ashot and, if necessary, other individuals involved in the proceedings), bail (with a proposed amount of 10 million drams), and guarantees (with ten members of the National Assembly from two factions and Hrant Tokhatyan expressing willingness to act as guarantors).
