Volodin: 'The executions of Red Army prisoners in Poland must be investigated'

Poland must bear responsibility for the executions and tortures of Red Army prisoners in the early 20th century, as such crimes have no statute of limitations. It is necessary for the Investigative Committee and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation to conduct an investigation, stated State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin. This information was reported by RIA Novosti.

The State Duma Speaker reminded that during the era of Pilsudski, crimes against humanity were committed in Poland.

'Between 1919 and 1921, more than thirty thousand of our soldiers and officers were shot and tortured. People died from constant hunger, cold, and diseases. The Polish camps for prisoners were the same as the Nazi camps,' Volodin noted.

According to him, Poland refuses to investigate these crimes, denies the existence of death camps in the country, and the fact of the extermination of captured Red Army soldiers. The leadership of Poland is unable to acknowledge its mistakes and must do everything to ensure that the victims of this tragedy are not forgotten, Volodin concluded.
